B-17 Nose Art Series

Greetings ~

I am a WWII History - *buff* - and I enjoy all the art, history, and design that occurred during that time.

I am impressed by the (simple) human need to decorate.

Especially to the dedication and admiration to the simple placing of the images on aeroplanes, especially the - *inspirational* - images of women (also called) "Pin-ups" - that were widely used during the 40's, 50's, and into the 60's.

So taking that - *idea* - I created some of my own versions of those "Nose Art" Beauties.

This is called - "Quiet Heroine"....

You begun for practical reasons of identifying friend from foe…
You had seen emotions... which ran from to and fro…

You were there ….
From the happy times… and through times of Woe...

You offered comfort by recalling home or peacetime life,
and released all the strife…

You were a private kind of fetish against enemy action…
You were an unbeatable protection…

You adorned many ships…
You crossed many types of seas…

You are beauty beyond compare…
and held many close… when men were in despair…

You were placed on paper and wood…And through it all…
Proved that you could…

You graduated onto metal and steel…
and in the clouds you travelled...
Nothing stopped you or made you yield…

You zoomed with pride and were a man's inspiration…
and all the while… were just a creation…
From his imagination…

Through it all …
you were every mans ideal…His everlasting appeal…

You offered benefits to much morale…
You expressed pride, relieving the uniform anonymity…

Through it all….

You last even now… and also ...into infinity...
